Rick Rahim, Private Helicopter and Airplane Pilot
Rick Rahim is the President of BusinessVentures.com. He is also an accomplished helicopter and airplane pilot.
Rick holds the rank of Lt. Colonel; and has flown search and rescue missions for the Virginia Airborne Search and Rescue group, Project Lifesaver, and a Virginia sheriff's office for many years. He also volunteers his time flying youngsters ages 7-17 as part of EAA's Young Eagles Program.
For the past three years (2007, 2008, and 2009), Rick has been honored as the #1 Young Eagles pilot in the State of Virginia by the Virginia Department of Aviation. It is the stated mission of the Young Eagles Program to introduce young people to the wonders of flight in general aviation aircraft.
In total, Rick has flown over 800 youngsters in the past five years.
Rick donates use of his helicopter and the necessary fuel from his own pocket so that any youngster can experience the wonders of flight at no cost to the family.
Rick's own words say it all: "As a kid, I would have done anything for a chance to ride in a helicopter. I can't tell you how good it makes me feel every time I can provide that experience to any child who wants to fly!"
We often fly very large groups of children all in one day. (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Youth Groups, etc.)
When flying larger groups, we may use more than one helicopter. We would like to gratefully recognize the support we receive from our fellow helicopter owners and pilots:
Sgt. Scott Chambers (Chesapeake Police Dept., Ret.)
Lt. Col. Pete Derouin (US Army)
Capt. Bo Garvin (VA Beach Police Dept., Ret.)
Andy Ozols (US Army, Ret.)
Dep. Kevin Richlik (Chesapeake Sheriff's Office)
George Smith
Col. Barry Thacker (VA Beach Police Dept, Project Lifesaver, Ret.)
Frank Tucker
We are humbled every time you volunteer your time and resources to help us.
